I have escaped his power . . .

As I was  staring into his eyes, a dust particle caused me to blink and the spell was broken.  As easy as that, my mind is my own again.  And, um, excuse me, I must get him a treat and scratch his belly . . .

Flamenco at the Arsht Center in Miami

This weekend I took my mother to a flamenco show in Miami.  It was magnificent.  The lighting, costumes, and music were beautiful; the dancing was exciting, passionate, and breathtaking.  After the show, my mother said she understands why I love flamenco so much.
Here's a clip of what we experienced:

Künefe and Shame

Sunday evening, I had dinner at Bosphorous in Winter Park.  Another yummy adventure in turkish cuisine. My dinner was a wonderful poof of lavas with hummus and haydir.  I ended my meal with künefe, a delightful dessert made from shredded cracked wheat, cheese, pistachio nuts and a simple honey syrup.
This wonderful dinner was followed by a very disturbing movie - Shame.  A very good movie that I did not like.  It's an extremely intense movie about sexual addiction.  The story centers around a brother and sister that are emotionally crippled by a shameful past and trapped by  their subsequent addictions and co-dependencies.  "Shame" does not allow the viewer to peek behind the curtain; instead, the audience is thrust into very intimate scenes.  With unavoidable vulnerability, the actors, Michael  Fassbender and Carey Mulligan, delivered tour de force performances.  "Shame" is a movie worth seeing, but it's not for the faint-hearted.
