The Queen of Versailles and Crepes

Now playing at the Enzian Theatre, "The Queen of Versailles" is a documentary about billionaire time-share tycoon David Siegel and his wife, Jackie.  The movie begins when the Siegels are at the height of their lifestyle of "new money" excess and building the obnoxiously immense and opulent home modeled after Versailles, and follows them through their "struggles" following the 2008 financial bust and subsequent recession.    It's difficult to sympathize with David Siegel.  A special treat, Jackie Siegel welcomed the audience and introduced the movie.  In person and on the big screen, she seems friendly, approachable, and genuine.  The audience snickered when she mentioned that the movie may be nominated for an Oscar; however, at its conclusion, I have to agree, "The Queen of Versailles" is worthy of a nomination.
