Big Sandy and the Fly-Rite Boys

Last week, Big Sandy and the Fly-Rite Boys came to town.  The small size of the crowd did not dampen the band's enthusiasm.  True professionals, they performed a very entertaining show of superior honky-tonk rockabilly.

4Rivers Smokehouse BBQ

I love BBQ!  Danny B and I had lunch at Four Rivers Smokehouse.
It was real good.
When we arrived, there was the everyday 20+ lunch customer line.  The line never shortened; instead, when we left I counted 26 customers in line - a true testament to this tasty bbq.  For lunch, I had bbq pulled chicken and bbq brisket (no bun) with bbq baked beans and sweet potatoe casserole - delicious!  I so wanted to have dessert, but I just couldn't do it - I was too bbq full.

Sunday Morning Pancakes

Lately, I've been trying to control my "white" habit by minimizing sugar, flour and potatoes in my daily diet.  Today I made almond flour pancakes. They were easy to make and delicious to eat.

 Almond Flour Pancakes
1 Cup Almond Flour
1/4 Cup Water (I used Almond Milk)
2 Eggs
2 Tbsps Oil
1 Tbsp Sweetner (I used Vanilla Stevia)
1/4 Tsp Salt
Mix in a bowl, cook in a pan.

Leah and Her Hens

Recently, I spent a fun afternoon hanging out with my pal, Leah.  She introduced me to her five hens:  Betty, Cleopatra, Daphne, Esporanza, and Henny Penny?
Check out this Barbie Dream Hen House. Not only do Leah's hens provide her a daily supply of deliciously nutritious cackleberries, but Leah claims they keep her yard bug-free.
Lovely Leah, Lane, her fantastic brother and Rico Suave.
Leah and I cruised around downtown Sanford on her motor-scooters.  At first, I was scared, but quickly became comfortable with zipping around.  It was a blast!  That evening, Rico Suave made a delicious dinner of chicken, plaintains and spanish rice.  The day was so enjoyable:  excellent company, good conversation, adventure and delicious food.

Discovered Jimmy Dumps / Sunny Jimmy

So, I was surfing the net to see if things are getting better; and yes, I found a new favorite blog.  My favorites are listed to the right and I just added Jimmy Dumps/Sunny Jimmy.  I enjoy the writing of this insightful blogger.

How It All Went Down

You are surfing around the web looking to see if things are getting better, or if things are getting worse.  You find evidence that things are getting better, and things are getting worse.  And things are the same too, or if not the same, there is this appearance of sameness that is probably a false appearance, because nothing is ever the same, even that happy innocuous sameness that sort of floods your senses.

And you remember that there was probably laughter and light in the Dark Ages.  And there were parties too.  And maybe the ages were dark, but there were those who were dazzled by the light of the stars, and there were people who were happy, and inspired, and had great sex, and they didn't really know they were living in the dark ages.  And well, that's probably how it goes.  You live in an age, and you don't even know the character of the age you are living in.  You live, you toil, you party.  And you leave it to others to remember how it all went down.                                                                                                                 ~ Jimmy Dumps / Sunny Jimmy

I really like the post, "Clearing."  Check it out and say Amen!

Thomas & Olivia Wynn

Recently, I met up with Beth & Dave to enjoy some mighty-fine local southern rock music - Thomas & Olivia Wynn.  Happy surprise - Alf, Brian and Patty were there, too!  It was the perfect hippie evening: cool temperatures, great music, casual chats, friendly games of bean bag toss and a food truck with the best fried macaroni & cheese (or so I am told).

Brian and Alf = the best and happiest of buddies!

Dad & Kids Rock "Strangelove"

This cover of Depeche Mode's "Strangelove" is the best!
The little boy wearing a Madonna t-shirt is adorable;  but, the best part is when the little girl clips binders on to her dad's face.  =D  Love it!
